On October 01, 1960, Nigeria got independence from the British colonial masters. 50 years later with 4 Republics and the 14th president on saddle, the gains of independence not yet fully realized even with the enormous contributions of our past and present heroes.
However, while commemorating Nigeria’s 50th birthday, it is pertinent to ponder on issues relating to national building as it affects our youths and their contribution to development of our dear country in the recent years.
Vision
Nonetheless, the vision of this initiative therefore, is to activate and mobilize the energies of young people in the realization and total restoration of Nigeria’s greatness –economic stability, job creation, comparative educational system, sound health delivery system, sustainable basic amenities and industrialized growth.
The youths as stakeholders play sensitive roles in the rebuilding process of the new Nigeria -to elect credible and accountable leaders to elective offices. This initiative seeks to gather the youth-force to this effect.
Objectives
— To redirect the energies of young people toward positive engagement.
— Create awareness on what sustainable development means; how and why youths are actors in development.
— Mobilize and raise youths’ awareness to support credible candidates at all levels in the general elections.
— To inspire the youths not to allow themselves be used as political thugs, before, during and after elections
